At dusk, I was standing on a footbridge over the Avanos River in Central Anatolia… the feeling of the night air, the sun setting, the starlings swirling through the sky, the mosque behind me singing out the call to prayer. My soul arrived home in a place I had never been.
Murmurations takes flight from a place of many eyes ("I"s)
Eye of the heart
Eye of bird in flight
Eye as a window into the soul
It is the ‘I’ that has lived many lives in many places on the earth and in the skies.
It is the ‘I’ that found home, time out of time, in a land these eyes have never seen, yet were always meant to arrive.
Murmurations is my first attempt at an expansive installation...not just a body of work. Each painting speaking with its own voice, yet each only a whisper in this deeper story.
Murmurations is the many becoming One.
One breath. One dance.
The murmur of wings against an endless sky.
The exhale of coming home at last..
